Guilds in Astro Empires often sign pacts with other guilds for protection, domination or just for mutual benefit. There are a large number of pacts that exist in the game each with their own meaning and use.
Major Guild Treaties[]
These are the most common form of treaties that are signed between guilds in Astro Empires for diplomatic mutual gain.
Alliance[]
Alliance (also known as MADP - Mutual Aggression/Defence Pact): Two or more signatory bodies agree to act as one in manners of offence, defence, intel, and commerce. Attacks against one are considered attacks against the other, and attacks made by one are usually accompanied by attacks made by the other.
Blood Pact[]
A variation of Alliance started by the BORG (on Alpha) in which signatory parties who break their word are de facto considered at war with the all other parties to the agreement.
Guardian Pact[]
A variation of a protectorate first created by The Guardian Task Force [TGTF] and most recently used by the Wolf Dragoons [{WD}] in which a higher level guild adopts and trains a low-level guild in a master/apprentice relationship until the guild is strong enough to adopt another guild and the chain continues on and on. Guilds offer mutual protection. Often times, the apprentice guild will challenge the master guild to prove it's worth.
MAP: Mutual Aggression Pact[]
Signatories to this Pact agree to join together to wage war against a specified foe, or against any opponents now or in the future. It does not mandate assistance in purely defensive operations.
MDP: Mutual Defence Pact[]
Signatories to this Pact agree to come to the aid of the other signatories in the event of unwarranted attacks or aggression against other signatories. Typically, this requires the party being attacked to request assistance under the terms of the MDP, but it is not required for a formal or official request to be received in order for the other parties to act.
ToA: Treaty of Armistice[]
Signatories to this Pact (Also known as a friendship pact) may come to the aid of the other signatories in the event of unwarranted attacks or aggression against other signatories but are not obligated to do so. Typically, this requires the party being attacked to request assistance under the terms of the ToA, but it is not required for a formal or official request to be received in order for the other parties to act. A signatory to this Pact may choose to stay uninvolved when they hold identical Pacts with the parties involved.
NAP: Non-Aggression Pact[]
Signatories to this Pact agree not to engage in unwarranted aggression (attacks, occupations, piracy, pillaging, or "stealing" occupations (including United Colonies and other Server Bot accounts)) against the other parties. A NAP is generally suspended, if not rendered null-and-void by one a signatory party's attacks on allies or defence partners of the others.
Trade Pact[]
Signatories agree to exchange trade locations with each other for improved guild cooperation and profit. The level of which trade is done, whether through an official or just members messaging with potential trade routers is determined by the guilds in question. Usually, signatories of a formal Trade Pact also agree not to plunder one another's trade routes.
CF: Cease Fire[]
A temporary cessation of hostilities between two or more parties. The cease fire may be of indefinite time, but generally only lasts until another agreement is signed, a pre-determined period of time elapses, or hostilities resume for whatever cause
Sub-Guild pacts[]
These pacts are signed between guilds where one is the mother guild while another is sub guild controlled or protected by the first.
Vassalage[]
The vassal-state guild owes allegiance to a more powerful guild (in other words, to an overlord). Guild policies for the vassal-state are directed by the overlord guild. Relations between the two guilds should be interpreted as per an alliance, in that actions against one are actions against the other, but it does not always follow that the overlord guild will come to the rescue of the vassal-state.
Training Guild[]
A Training guild is a guild that has been formed by a more powerful guild for the sole purpose of training and improving its members. The guild is usually run by a trusted member of the mother guild and a high command with specific skills to teach the new members. Use of training guides, requirements for promotions and even tests can be involved with a training guild.
Protectorate[]
Protectorate is a guild that is dependent on another guild (usually a more powerful one). Protectorates don't have to participate in the wars of the Protector (though they often do).
Personal treaties[]
These are personal treaties that are often signed specially by individual members. Personal treaties are not limited to those below nor are they only used by players as guilds can also use them. However they are predominately used for this purpose.
KOS: Kill On Sight[]
Not a treaty, per se, but one that's often listed. Individual players will often place other player outside of war on KOS for various reasons.
UKOST: Universal Kill On Sight Treaty[]
This is an advance form of a KOS, in which players who sign this treaty will uphold each others KOS's.
